At the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 8, the 60 churches of the Diocese of Nashville welcomed 183 catechumens and 311 candidates into the Church. St. Stephen Catholic Community in Old Hickory welcomed 22 of those catechumens and 31 of those candidates during the Mass.

More than 2,500 people enjoyed and open house at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Nashville before gathering in Sagrado Corazón Church for the annual Chrism Mass on Tuesday, April 4. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop J. Mark Spalding and featured the renewal of promises of the priests of the diocese and the blessing of the oils and the consecration of the sacred chrism.

Thirteen men were ordained to the diaconate during a special Mass celebrated by Bishop J. Mark Spalding on Saturday, April 1, at Sagrado Corazon Church at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Nashville. The 12 permanent deacons included Joseph Augustine, David Gilles, Christopher Hoover, Francis Kham, Collen Mayer, Shawn Phillips, Carlos Salvatierra, Christopher Simpson, Salvador Soto, Craig Thomas, Martin Torres, and Michael Wiedemer. Seminarian Seth Reed was ordained to the transitional diaconate as the next step toward his priestly ordination in 2024.

The 60 churches of the Diocese of Nashville kicked off Holy Week with Palm Sunday celebrations, which included the blessing of palms, processions and more. St. Luke Church in Smyrna's procession at the noon bilingual Mass on Sunday, April 2, featured "Jesus," potrayed by Benito Morales, a parishioner of St. Luke, leading the procession with a live donkey.

In honor of World Down Syndrome Day on Tuesday, March 21, the Catholic Schools Office hosted a Rock Your Socks event for Hand-in-Hand Options Students at the Catholic Pastoral Center.
