Churches, schools, and organizations throughout the Diocese of Nashville have plenty of upcoming events to add to your calendar. Check out the events below. 

Booking Signing and Meet the Artists Event

St. Mary’s Bookstore in downtown Nashville will host a Book Signing and Meet the Artists event featuring Anne Goetze, author of “Pray to Love: A Contemplative Life” and Nathan Collie, photographer behind “Moments with Birds” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at 1909 West End Ave. For more information, email StMarysBookstoreMarketing@gmail.com or call 615-329-1835. 

Free Workshop

St. Patrick Church in South Nashville will hold its free How to Create Healthy Boundaries workshop at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in Father Abbot Hall. Emily Adams, a certified Catholic coach for Metanoia Catholic, will present and help participants learn how to create boundaries in a way that honors themselves and others that leads to more peace and freedom to love in relationships. Vigilance and Awareness Workshop

The Vigilance Group in partnership with ACME Feed & Seed will host a Vigilance and Awareness Workshop for Women Downtown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, at the ACME Feed and Seed, 101 Broadway in downtown Nashville. The event will include a 30-minute seminar and a 90-minute hands-on defense and empowerment training. Cost is $80 per person and tickets can be purchased at tinyurl.com/thevigilancegroup. Parish Mission

Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Springfield will host a “Living Holy Matrimony” Parish Mission retreat at 6 p.m. Nov. 27-30. Subjects for the multi-day event include “The Nature of Marriage and the Gift of Sexuality,” “God Elevates Marriage to a Sacrament,” “Preparation for Marriage,” and “Living a Holy and Successful Marriage.” Father Ben Cameron, CPM, of the Fathers of Mercy will lead the retreats. Membership Meeting

The Ladies of Charity will host its next membership meeting at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the Ladies of Charity Center, 2216 State Street, in Nashville. Lunch will be available for $15, which is payable at the door. Reservations will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 24. Sewpop Mistletoe Marketplace

The Sewing Training Academy will present the Sewpop Mistletoe Marketplace, a pop-up gift market, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, at The Clay Lady’s Campus, 1416 Lebanon Pike, in Nashville. 

Advent Parish Mission

St. Luke Church in Smyrna will hold an Advent Parish Mission at 7 p.m. Dec. 3-4 at the church. The event will feature Steve Angrisano, an internationally recognized Catholic composer, presenter, and passionate music missionary. For more information, email frontoffice@stluketn.org

Advent Parish Mission

St. Stephen Church in Old Hickory will hold its three-day parish mission Dec. 3-5, at the church. Author and international speaker Katie Prejean McGrady will lead the sessions, which begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. The event is free and open to all. Walk thru Bethlehem

St. Henry Church will host a Walk thru Bethlehem event from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, at the church. All are welcome to attend the free event. 

Eucharistic Lecture

Aquinas College will host its next Eucharistic lecture, “The Real Presence: Source of Joy” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, in the Aquinas Center. The talk will be given by Sister Jane Dominic, OP, and will be followed by adoration and benediction. 

Girls Garden Retreat

Girls Garden Retreat will host an all-inclusive restorative retreat April 4-7 at Callaway Gardens in Georgia. The retreat is targeted for women who are seeking restoration for both body and soul, women who have gone through or are currently in a season of grief, women who have experienced disappointment, loneliness or difficult relationships, or any woman desiring to take a break and receive the goodness of God through beauty, rest, prayer, and small community. The cost is $1,300 for a shared room or $1,600 for a private room. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot, and payment plans are available for the remaining balance. SEARCH Retreat Registration

Registration is open for 2023-2024 SEARCH Retreat weekends. Scheduled weekends include Nov. 10-12, Dec. 1-3, Jan. 12-14, and March 1-3. For more information, email Shelby Conner, Office of Faith Formation’s assistant director, at shelby.conner@dioceseofnasvhille.com.

Volunteer Opportunity

Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital is seeking volunteers to serve as extraordinary ministers of Communion for patient visitation at both the West and Midtown campuses. Eucharistic ministers must be practicing Catholics and apply to become hospital volunteers first. A letter of good standing from a pastor must also be provided.
