Father Ryan hosts Relay for Life to fight cancer

Father Ryan High School will continue its fight against cancer when it hosts its annual Relay for Life on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Father Ryan’s Relay for Life is the largest student-led Relay event in the country, and over the last 11 years as raised more than $1.54 million for the American Cancer Society to use in its efforts to find a cure for cancer.

The goal this year is to raise $180,000 for cancer research. During the event, Relay Teams will be selling baked goods, food, and drinks throughout the day. Donations can be made up until the end of the event, at https://secure.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY22NCR?pg=entry&fr_id=102770.

Seniors Kate McDonnel and Grace Holland are the co-chairs for this year’s relay, which will be held noon-8 p.m. at the Jim Carell Alumni Athletic Complex and Giacosa Stadium on the Father Ryan campus.

Caregivers, cancer survivors, and all those affected by cancer will walk the around the track, honoring the fight that so many have endured. Luminaria Bags will line the track in memory of those who have lost their battle with cancer.
