Five members of the Class of 2022 at Father Ryan High School have recently committed to participate in athletics in college. Their signings bring the total number of athletic commitments in the class to 18.
They are:
Jair Horton has signed to play basketball at Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee.
Horton was named to the Division II-AA All Region team in basketball and was a starter on the Father Ryan football team.
Walters State competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association as a member of the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association.
Horton is the son of Cherica Horton and a graduate of Rock Springs Middle School in Smyrna.
Madilyn Parker has signed to play softball at Sewanee: The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Parker, a centerfielder, was named to the Division II-AA All Region team.
Sewanee competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Southern Athletic Association.
Parker is the daughter of Andi and Jon Parker, a parishioner at Christ the King Church, and a graduate of J.T. Moore Middle School.
Ben Regen has signed to row for the University of California San Diego in San Diego, California.
As a member of the Nashville Rowing Club, Regen was invited to the US Rowing Under-19 System Selection Camp and was a member of the Southeast Olympic Development Program.
University of California San Diego rowing team competes as part of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association as a member of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association.
Regen is the son of Jen and Ben Regen and is a graduate of St. Bernard Academy.
B.J. Selby has signed to play rugby at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
Selby has experience playing both the 15s and 7s versions of the game and is noted for his high work rate and physical style of play. He also was a member of the Father Ryan football team.
The University of Louisville men’s rugby team is part of the American Collegiate Rugby Championship as a member of the Mid-American Rugby Conference.
Selby is the son of Michelle Fletcher Selby and Benjamin Selby and is a graduate of Meigs Academic Magnet Middle School in Nashville.
Kelsey Sullivan has signed to play lacrosse at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts.
Sullivan plays attack and was named to the All Region Team.
Endicott College competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Sullivan is the daughter of Jennifer and James Sullivan, a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Brentwood, and a graduate of Page Middle School in Franklin.
“As one who had the honor to compete at the next level, I know the opportunities that await these young men and women,” said Father Ryan Director of Athletics Ann Mullins. “It’s a proud moment for them and their families, and for their teammates and classmates to share. We are proud of all of them.”
