Four Holy Rosary Academy seventh grade students took home the honors in a recent Trash Art contest at the school sponsored by the Stones River Woman’s Club. The winners were:

  • Anna Kate Martens, who took home the first-place ribbon and a $15 prize for her art titled “Sunflower.”
  • John Paul Weaver, who took second place with a $10 prize for his art titled “Trash Tank.”
  • Abby Brentlinger, who took third place and a $5 prize for her art titled “David Bowie.”
  • Bella Oxford, who took fourth place and a $4 prize for her art titled “Pop Top Whale”

The Stones River Woman’s Club provides several opportunities for the students to enter contests throughout the year, including both poetry and photography.

Stones River Woman’s Club members Kay Baker, a parishioner at Holy Rosary Church, and Johnnie Maggart, a retired Holy Rosary teacher, presented the ribbons and monetary gifts to the students with the help of Holy Rosary Academy librarian Anne Kelley.
