Parishioners at Sagrado Corazon Church at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Nashville attended Mass on All Souls Day, Monday, Nov. 2, and observed the Mexican tradition of honoring their deceased loved ones on Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Part of the custom is to build an altar, called an ofrenda, to hold photos of loved ones, their favorite foods, marigolds, and other decorative items. The ofrenda at Sacred Heart featured photos of the late Bishop David Choby and the late Father Richard Gagnon, S.D.S., the former director of Hispanic ministry for the Diocese of Nashville.
