Gregory Sandfort has been named the Catholic Business League’s 2023 Catholic Professional of the Year, and he will be honored at the Catholic Business League’s upcoming breakfast meeting on Nov. 9, at the Fleming Center at the Cathedral of the Incarnation.
Sandfort has more than 40 years of experience in the retail industry, including with Tractor Supply Company, Michaels Stores, Inc. and Kirkland’s, Inc. With Tractor Supply, Sandfort served as chief executive officer from May 2016 to Jan. 2020, after which he served as strategic advisor and consultant to the company until Aug. 2020. He had served earlier as Tractor Supply’s chief operating officer, chief merchandising officer and executive vice president.
“Greg’s accomplishments are extensive, and when coupled with his commitment to serving the community in his numerous roles, we were proud to select him for this honor,” Catholic Business League President Margaret Smith said. “Recognizing him in this manner highlights to our members not only the value of strong performance in one’s profession but also the importance of the commitment to service, both of which he has embodied admirably throughout his career.”
Before joining Tractor Supply, Sandfort served as president and chief operating officer at Michaels Stores, Inc. from March 2006 until Aug. 2007 and as executive vice president – general merchandise manager from Jan. 2004 until Feb. 2006. In addition, he has served as a director of WD-40 Company and Kirkland’s, Inc, and he is the chairman of the board for the Diocese of Nashville’s newest elementary school, St. Michael Academy in Nolensville, which is set to begin classes in Aug. 2024.
“I am flattered. I am not by any means a hero,” Sandfort said. “I’m just a guy trying to help out and if I can lend my talents and experiences to something and make it happen, I’m willing to do it.”
