The First Lady of Tennessee Maria Lee visited Christ the King School in Nashville on Monday, Nov. 6, to read to some of the students in honor of the schools Read-A-Thon, as well as its Book Drive for Book’em. The school is hoping to collect 1,000 books for Book’em, whose mission is “to create a more literate Nashville and ignite children’s passion for reading through book ownership and enthusiastic volunteers. We envision a future in Nashville where all children own books and know first-hand the joy and value of reading.” Photos by Katie Peterson

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, First Lady Lee read “If You Were a Kid on the Mayflower” by John Son and illustrated by Roger Zanni before answering some questions from students.
