This stained glass window at the Church of the Assumption in Germantown depicts the scene from the Gospel of Mark in which Jesus, when seeing the apostles rebuke people bringing their children to him to be blessed, “became indignant and said to them, ‘Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’ … Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.”

The stained glass windows at Assumption have been restored as part of the ongoing renovation of the church following the damage sustained in the tornado that struck the Germantown neighborhood in March 2020. The church will host a novena beginning Saturday, Aug. 6, with a sermon and Benediction at 6 p.m. each evening. The novena will end with a sermon and a procession around Germantown led by Bishop J. Mark Spalding.
