The Hispanic Ministry at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Franklin will host a retreat for Spanish-speaking women, Retiro Samaritana, Saturday, Feb. 18, and Sunday, Feb. 19.
The name of the retreat, Samaritan Retreat in English, is drawn from the account from the Gospel of John of Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well, said Father Carmelo Jimenez, who will lead the retreat.
“She was healed from her past,” said Father Jimenez, the pastor of St. Michael Church in Sebree, Kentucky, in the Diocese of Owensboro. “That is the meaning of the retreat.”
The retreat is meant especially for single mothers and women who have had difficulties in their life, Father Jimenez said. A psychologist has helped develop the resources for the retreat, which Father Jimenez has led in the Diocese of Owensboro, he said.
Joining Father Jimenez as a speaker at the retreat will be Father Lustein Blanco, the associate pastor at St. Michael Church in Sebree, Kentucky.
The retreat will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19. The cost is $60 per person, and the retreat is limited to 50 women.
