Nashville Scene readers really like Christ the King School and Church.
In the Scene’s 2021 Best of Nashville readers’ poll, published in the Oct. 14 issue, Christ the King School finished in the top three in six categories, while the church finished in the top three in two categories.
Father Ryan High School and St. John Vianney School in Gallatin also placed in the top three in several categories.
“We have a very strong community that is loyal to us and is very supportive,” said Jeannette Neuhoff Vogt, the advancement director of Christ the King School and a 1976 graduate.
The school finished first in the Best Private School, Best Middle School (Public or Private), and Best Preschool categories. It finished second in the Best Elementary School (Public or Private) and Best Playground categories. Second grade teacher Sarah Osborne finished third in the Best Teacher (Public or Private) category.
“This is the third or fourth year running, she’s placed first, second or third,” Vogt said of Osborne, who has taught at Christ the King since 2012. “She’s one of the students’ favorite teachers.”
Vogt did a softer push to encourage parents to vote in this year’s poll than in the past, she said. “But they came through.”
St. John Vianney finished second in the Best Preschool category and third in Best Private School. Father Ryan finished first in Best High School (Public or Private).
Christ the King Church also received support in the Readers Poll. The church finished first in Best Place to Worship category, and Father Dexter Brewer, Christ the King’s pastor, finished second in the category of Best Religious Leader.
The poll helps spread the word about Christ the King School and Church, Vogt said. “It reaches a broader audience than just the parish or the Catholic Community,” she said.
