Employees of the Diocese of Nashville are having a Lenten Diaper Drive in support of the Nashville Diaper Connection through Thursday, April 20, and they are inviting the people of the diocese to join them in the effort so there is “No Child Wet Behind.”

The Nashville Diaper Connection is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that “strives to ensure that every baby in Middle Tennessee has enough diapers to stay clean, dry, and healthy,” according to the organization website.

In its first year, Nashville Diaper connection distributed 19,000 diapers and, to date, they have helped provide diapers to more than 160,000 babies.

Statistically, one in three families in America report experiencing a diaper need. Additionally, diapers are classified as disallowed purchases under food stamps.

These are just some of the reasons why the Diocese of Nashville chose the Nashville Diaper Connection.

“Given the rising cost of inflation, single parents are being hit incredibly hard,” said Brian Bednarz, a member of the diocesan employees Spirit Team who is leading the project. “Everything, including the cost of diapers, is going up, so we thought it would be a great idea to help out an organization working to help relieve this burden for parents.”

There are three ways to donate to the Diocese of Nashville Lenten Diaper Drive.

• Drop off diapers to the receptionist desk at the Catholic Pastoral Center, 2800 McGavock Pike, Nashville, Tennessee, 37214. Enter at entrance four. The Nashville Diaper Connection will accept any unused diaper. This includes diaper packs that have previously been open.

• Provide a monetary donation at donorbox.org/diocese-nashville-diaper-need-tn. With monetary donations the Nashville Diaper Connection can purchase diapers directly from the manufacturer thereby yielding to three times as many diapers as compared to purchasing in the store.

• Purchase diapers from the Amazon Wish List at www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/35KN9NUETIBXK?ref_=wl_share, and have it shipped to the Catholic Pastoral Center at 2800 McGavock Pike, Nashville, Tennessee, 37214.

All donations must be made by Thursday, April 20.
