Several churches and schools throughout the Diocese of Nashville have been celebrating May Crownings throughout the month of May in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Church of the Assumption’s celebration was led by the newly formed Children of Mary Circle on Sunday, May 7, at the statue outside the church rectory. The event included a procession, prayers and music while each of the children of the parish placed a flower in front of Mary before 10-year-old Sofia Valente crowned Mary with the handmade crown the Children of Mary group created.
