The Serra Club of Williamson County hosted the seminarians of the Diocese of Nashville during their monthly meeting Thursday, Aug. 4, at the St. Philip of the Apostle Church Community Center in Franklin. The second annual event is a final farewell for the seminarians before they leave to continue their studies. Throughout the dinner, members of the Serra Club talked with the seminarians, letting them know of their support. Throughout the year, members of the club send prayer cards to seminarians to assure them of their prayers. Seminarian David Lee speaks to Serra Club members.

The Nashville Chapter of Legatus was officially declared a charter during a celebration on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at St. Patrick Church in South Nashville, and Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. The chapter, after two-and-a-half years of development, was able to reach charter status with 20 couples joined as members. The induction ceremony, led by Bishop J. Mark Spalding, saw 22 couples inducted as chartering members. Bishop Spalding poses with the charter officers.

The newest cohort of permanent deacon candidates, which consists of a total of 13 men, officially started their formation with their first weekend of classes Aug. 25-27 at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Nashville. More than 200 people of all ages came together for the third annual Farewell to Summer Songwriters Night on Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Joseph Church and School in Madison. The evening featured performances from St. Joseph parishioners and Christian singers and songwriters Matt Maher, Sarah Kroger, and PJ Anderson. The evening raised more than $12,000 for St. Joseph School. Musicians Matt Maher and Sarah Kroger perform.
