Bishop J. Mark Spalding celebrated Mass with the St. Edward School community on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at St. Edward Church. After Mass and a few hellos to students in the hallway, Bishop Spalding visited the Heart of Mary House for the first time where he learned of the care that its many volunteers give hospice patients across Tennessee. Third-grade students Sabella Mulualem, Blathnaid Purcell, and Brook Beasley, share a music book as they sing the Communion hymn.

St. Joseph School in Madison reached peak enrollment for pre-kindergarten, with 103 students enrolled for the 2023-23 schoolyear. It's a significant spike compared to the 79 in the 2021-22 schoolyear. St. Joseph School offers part-time and full-time programs for children age 2-4. Jennifer Heeren, 3-year-old pre-kindergarten teacher, holds up the book so her students can see the pictures during storytime Friday, Jan. 13, at the school.
