St. Philip the Apostle Church in Franklin closed the 150th anniversary year of the dedication of its original church building with a Mass and a blessing of a time capsule that will be opened on the church's 200th anniversary. St. Philip parishioners check out the time capsule.

St. Mary of the Seven Sorrows Church in downtown Nashville celebrated its 175th anniversary with a special Mass on All Saints Day Tuesday, Nov. 1. The Mass was celebrated by Father Jayd Neely, pastor of St. Mary, with Bishop J. Mark Spalding serving as the homilist. Father Neely, right, speaks with parishioners during the reception.

Parishioners of St. Henry gathered at Camp Marymount in Fairview Oct. 28-30, for a weekend of hiking, canoeing, fellowship, music and more in honor of Father Mark Beckman's 60th birthday. Father Beckman blows out his last sparkler candle.

HCA Healthcare volunteers came to the Catholic Pastoral Center Oct. 18 and 25 for community help days to beautify Bishop's Courtyard in coordination with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Nashville. The process included raking leaves, planting daffodil bulbs and putting down mulch. Volunteers Aline Leite and Jennifer Garrett add more compost to the pile.

St. Edward Church ended its three-day anniversary celebration on Saturday, Oct. 15, with a festival on the St. Edward Campus. The day included live music, food, carnival games, a craft fair and more. Father Andy Bulso, pastor of St. Edward, looks through the history books.

The Diocese of Nashville hosted Holy Fire Nashville for more than 900 youth and adults Saturday, Oct. 1, in Sagrado Corazon Church at the Catholic Pastoral Center. The event was put on by EQ Saints and Declan Weir Production, Inc., in partnership with the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. The event was MC’d by musician Dana Catherine, and included performances by Catholic musicians PJ Anderson and Joe Melendrez, keynote addresses by Noelle Garcia, a Catholic recording artist and speaker. Attendees also had opportunities to receive the sacrament of reconciliation and attend Adoration, before ending the day with Mass celebrated by Bishop J. Mark Spalding. Adult leaders were invited to dance on the stage during the musical warm-up.
