Miracle child attends Chrism Mass

Mark Spalding greets Mikey Schachle, the child who was cured in the miracle attributed to the intercession of Father Michael McGivney, before the Chrism Mass for the Diocese of Nashville in Sagrado Corazon Church at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, June 16. The Mass, which is traditionally celebrated during Holy Week, was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Precautions still in effect required social distancing with a much smaller congregation and everyone wearing a face mask.

Miracle for Mikey: Dickson boy’s cure opens door to K of C founder’s beatification
Mikey Schachle, 5, lives with his parents Daniel and Michelle and family in Dickson, TN on Tuesday, 2 June 2020. Pope Francis approved the promulgation of a decree recognizing Mikey’s cure from a deadly case of fetal hydrops while still in his mother’s womb as a miracle attributed to the intercession of Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. With the approval of the miracle, Father McGivney’s cause for sainthood moves to the next step, beatification, when he will receive the title “Blessed.”
