Dozens of youth gathered at the Mother House of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville for the inaugural "Steeped" address Tuesday, Sept. 20. The first session "Steeped in the Eucharist" was given by Sister Mary Rachel, OP, local prioress and head of the pilgrimage program at Aquinas College. The Dominican sisters lead the song during nightly prayer in the Mother House Chapel.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints donated more than 36,000 pounds of food to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Nashville to distribute through its Hunger Relief Program. Dozens of priests, faith formation and religious education directors, and youth leaders of the diocesan parishes gathered for the Safe Environment Conference "Safeguarding God's People" Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Nashville. Attendees heard from several speakers and learned about the Holy See's "Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People," how to foster a safe environment for teens, about the recent developments in Canon Law, how to protect children from virtual predators, human trafficking, what grooming means and more. During a morning breakout session, attendees discuss how to foster a safe environment for teens with others at their table.

Bishop J. Mark Spalding celebrated the annual Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit at Aquinas College on Tuesday, Aug. 23. The Mass is celebrated each year at the beginning of the new academic year. After the Mass, the bishop blessed the buildings on the campus. The bishop visits with several of the new postulants for the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation, which owns and operates Aquinas College.

On April 21, 2021, Humphreys County was hit with catastrophic flash floods, which killed 20 and destroyed and damaged hundreds of homes. But over the course of the last year, several organizations, such as the St. Vincent de Paul conference at St. Patrick Church in McEwen, have stepped up, helping those affected get back into their homes. Jane McCarson hugs Barbara Hooper, St. Patrick conference vice president and flood relief coordinator, in thanks for all SVDP did to help her and her family after the 2021 floods in Humphreys County.
