Heart of Mary House on the campus of St. Edward Church and School held an open house after each of the Masses the weekend of Aug. 27-28. “The mission of Heart of Mary House is to provide a safe, comfortable and peaceful home-like setting for people, who are within the last three months of their lives.” Kim Derrick, director of ministry for the Heart of Mary House was on-hand to answer parishioner questions. On April 21, 2021, Humphreys County was hit with catastrophic flash floods, which killed 20 and destroyed and damaged hundreds of homes. But over the course of the last year, several organizations, such as the St. Vincent de Paul conference at St. Patrick Church in McEwen, have stepped up, helping those affected get back into their homes.
