Bishop J. Mark Spalding celebrated Mass for the new teachers at Catholic schools in the Diocese of Nashville on Friday, July 22. The Mass started the day-long orientation for the new teachers held at the Catholic Pastoral Center.

Bishop J. Mark Spalding, in honor of the 185th anniversary of the Diocese of Nashville, celebrated a special Mass Thursday, July 28, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Bishop Spalding elevates the now consecrated Body of Christ.

Several seminarians of the Diocese of Nashville were the featured guests at the Catholic Business League meeting on Thursday, July 14, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Seminarians Justin Farr and Francisco Castillo talked about their assignments this summer. The seminarians who attended the meeting included (from left) Joseph Ngo, Deacon Augustine Mang, Tylor Starkey, Justin Farr, Reed Robinson, Juan Hernandez and Francisco Castillo.

The three-week girls session at Camp Marymount in Fairview came to an end on Friday, July 1. The girls enjoyed a wide variety of activities at Camp Marymount, a Catholic summer camp that draws campers from several states. Campers tow Counselor in Training Nora Fenelon into the shore during a water sports session at the camp.

Five hundred people attended the 13th annual Seminarian Education Dinner and Auction on Tuesday, May 24, at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Hendersonville. It was the first time in three years that the event was held in-person. Money raised at the event helps pay the cost of educating the Diocese of Nashville's seminarians. Father Austin Gilstrap, director of vocations, presented the seminarians during the dinner.

Aquinas College brought it's year-long celebration of the 60th anniversary of its founding to a close with a picnic for alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends on Saturday, May 14. Sister Jean Marie, OP, greets a former staffer at the college.

Craftsmen from Conrad Schmitt Studios of New Berlin, Wisconsin, re-installed the stained glass windows in the Church of the Assumption in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville. The church was heavily damaged by tornadoes in March 2020. Restoration work at the church is ongoing. Nate Zabel of Conrad Schmitt Studios replaces the trim around one of the panels of a window depicting St. Anthony of Padua, a Franciscan priest.

The Fernandez Brothers were three of several children taken in by Catholic host families in Nashville in the 1960s as part of Operation Pedro Pan, which was a response to unrest in Cuba because of Fidel Castro. Rowan's parents took in all three boys for 18 months before they were reunited with their father in late 1963. They were later reunited with their mother, in Miami, in 1966.
